Girls basketball 2/19: Shelby and Whitehall get West Michigan Conference victories, Calvary Christian wins big

The Shelby girls basketball team outscored Mason County Central by nine points in the second quarter, then held on for a 34-28 victory Thursday in a West Michigan Conference game.

Shelby improved to 10-9 overall and 9-5 in the league.

Chloe Sillman paced Shelby with 12 points.

Makila Hodges had nine points for MCC, which dropped to 4-14 overall and 4-10 in conference play.

Whitehall 54, North Muskegon 41Emily MacArthur led Whitehall (8-9, 6-6) to the West Michigan Conference victory with 20 points. Mya Duncan scored 18 points for the Norse.

Fruitport Calvary Christian 81, Wellspring Academy 13 – Sophomore Allyson Richards passed the 1,000 career point mark in the blowout victory. Taylor Richards led the Eagles (14-2) with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
