The Shelby girls basketball team outscored Mason County Central by nine points in the second quarter, then held on for a 34-28 victory Thursday in a West Michigan Conference game.
Shelby improved to 10-9 overall and 9-5 in the league.
Chloe Sillman paced Shelby with 12 points.
Makila Hodges had nine points for MCC, which dropped to 4-14 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Whitehall 54, North Muskegon 41 – Emily MacArthur led Whitehall (8-9, 6-6) to the West Michigan Conference victory with 20 points. Mya Duncan scored 18 points for the Norse.
Fruitport Calvary Christian 81, Wellspring Academy 13 – Sophomore Allyson Richards passed the 1,000 career point mark in the blowout victory. Taylor Richards led the Eagles (14-2) with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
