The MCC Jayhawk women’s basketball team captured a 70-60 win over Ancilla Community College on Saturday.

Muskegon trailed 31-24 at half but were able to take over 48-45 with 10 minutes left in the contest.

The Jayhawks used an inspired 13-4 run late in the game after point guard Morgan Giddings was injured on an Ancilla charging foul that resulted in an MCC technical foul in response to the hard play.

Taylor Brown took over for Giddings and scored eight points in the run.

“I was impressed with the composure and toughness of our girls,” said MCC coach Rob Recknagel about his teams response to the hard Ancilla foul on Giddings. “Our best three-minute stretch was played immediately following Morgan’s injury and my technical foul. We responded to say the least and I couldn’t have been more proud of our entire team.”

Dani Jones led MCC with 11 points and 18 rebounds and Francesca Cerniglia also tallied a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds,
