The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team won its 17th game of the season Monday with a 57-48 victory over Jackson Community College.

The Jayhawks led 25-11 at halftime, thanks to a stingy defense, then held on in the second half.

Abby Rodriguez led the way for MCC with 13 points, including three 3-point field goals. Dani Jones had a big night on the boards with 20 rebounds, Morgan Giddings chipped in eight assists while Taylor Brown contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Jayhawks collected their ninth victory in the past 11 games and improved to 17-9 overall and 10-5 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference.

They will wrap up their regular season with a Wednesday home game against Lansing Community College at 5:30 p.m.
