The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team defeated Fruitport 61-24 in the finals Wednesday to capture a Division 2 district championship at Spring Lake.

The Rockets, who advance to next week’s regionals in Coopersville, downed Spring Lake 61-24 in the semifinal round.

Capturing victories in the finals for Reeths-Puffer were Jordan Carrow (103), Mike Weissert (130), Paul Douglas (140), Blake Ross (152), Brent Thomas (160), David Gordon (171) and Dawson Romanowsky (189).

The Rockets, who won the O-K Black Conference title this season, gained points by winning forfeits in five weight classes.

Terel Johnson (135) was the sole winner in the finals for Fruitport, which defeated Muskegon 53-12 in the semifinal round.

Division 3 at Shelby

Whitehall captured the Division 3 district crown with a 55-12 victory over Shelby in the semifinals and a 66-15 win over Orchard View in the finals.

The Vikings, champions of the West Michigan Conference, advance to next week’s regionals against Alma at Grant High School.

Winning matches for Whitehall in the finals were Reiley Brown (130), Jwan Britton (140), Joe Haynes (152), Isaac Morse (189), and Trip Thommen (215).

The Vikings earned points with forfeits in several weight classes.

Winners in the finals for O-V were Mike Parker (160), Rodolfo Mendez (171) and Austin Hess (285).

O-V had a bye in the semifinal round.

Division 1 at Mona Shores

Grand Haven, the O-K Red Conference champion, won the district by beating Mona Shores 60-10 in the semifinals and Holland West Ottawa 49-12 in the finals.

The Bucs now advance to regionals next Wednesday in Rockford against Forest Hills Central. The winner will meet the survivor of the Caledonia-Grandville match in the regional finals on the same night.

Division 3 at Ludington

Mason County Central downed Ludington 59-21 in the finals to capture the district title. In the semifinal round, MCC beat Benzie Central while Ludington downed Manistee. The Spartans now advance to next week’s regional in Grayling.

Division 3 at Kent City

Kent City earned the district championship by beating Montague 41-31 in the finals and Ravenna 64-12 in the first round.

Montague defeated Muskegon Catholic 74-6 in the other semifinal.
