The Muskegon girls basketball team defeated host Grand Rapids Union 66-53 on Monday night in the Class A district quarterfinals.

The Big Reds led 15-10 after the first quarter and closed out the game with a 19-12 fourth quarter run.

Mardrekia Cook led the Big Reds with 35 points.

Muskegon will face Kenowa Hills on Wednesday in the district semifinals at Mona Shores High School.

Howard City Tri-County 52, Newaygo 38 – Tri-County had a 17-4 third quarter run to take a decisive eight point lead.

(at Ludington)

Ludington 53, Cadillac 32 – The Orioles raced to a 34-17 halftime lead and never looked back. Kalli Wahr paced Ludington with 11 points while Ali Plamondon had nine points, six rebounds and six steals. Ludington will face Kingsley in the district semifinals on Wednesday.

Holton 37, Mason County Central 18 – The Red Devils jumped out to a 23-6 lead after the first quarter. Jacki Stone led the Red Devils with 11 points while Courtney Slater had nine points and five rebounds.  Holton will face Hesperia in the district semifinals on Wednesday.

Montague 41, Hart 27 – The Wildcats held Hart to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters. Kennadee Shugars led the Wildcats with 14 points while Sydney Stine had 10 points, all in the second half, to help seal the victory. Montague will face Shelby in the district semifinals on Wednesday.

(at Western Michigan Christian)

North Muskegon 57, Ravenna 41Mya Duncan scored a game-high 26 points while Olivia Duncan added 19 points for the Norse. Melissa McWatters tossed in 17 points for Ravenna. North Muskegon will face Kent City in the district semifinals on Wednesday.

West Michigan Christian 58, Muskegon Heights 39Jessica Eekhoff led the Warriors with 14 points while Cassie Kingma added 13 and Alyssa Wright had 11. WMC will face Holland Black River in the district semifinals on Wednesday.
