Holton falls to Morley-Stanwood 49-31 in Class C girls regional action

The Holton girls basketball team ended its season on Tuesday with a 49-31 loss to Morley-Stanwood in Class C regional semifinals at Mason County Central High School.

Morley Stanwood, which beat conference rival Holton twice in the regular season, led 31-16 at halftime and 43-23 after the third quarter.

Jacki Stone led the Red Devils with 10 points while Makayla Hutchison had eight.

Rachel Younts led Holton in rebounds with 10.

“Morley played great pressure defense tonight that we did not handle very well,” said Holton Coach Jayson Robins, whose team finished the season with an 18-6 record. “They are a scrappy, tough team and we were in awe of the moment.”

Holton won the first district title in the program’s history this season.
