The Mona Shores girls tennis team placed third out of four teams Saturday at a tournament at Rockford High School.

Rockford won the event with 24 points, followed by Grand Rapids Catholic (18), Mona Shores (8) and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix (1).

Kaylee Cunningham had the best day for the Sailors, posting a 2-1 record at No. 4 singles. Winning one match for Mona Shores were Sophie Gossett (No. 1 singles), Bri Holtrop (No. 2 singles), Bella Purosky (No. 3 singles), Megan Schaub and Journe Fett (No. 1 doubles), Kasey McCarl and Kendall McKinley (No. 2 doubles) and Summer Gossett and Julie Beechnau (No. 3 singles).
