Desi Parker pitches a gem in the opener, hits the game-tying homer in the nightcap, as Mona Shores sweeps GR Northview

Desi Parker had a big day for the Mona Shores softball team Monday, leading the Sailors to a 10-0 and 6-5 sweep of Grand Rapids Northview.LSJ Logo incert

Parker pitched a one-hit shutout on the opener, striking out six.

Mackenzie Willeke led the Sailors with two hits and four RBIs. Kalaya Savacool, Mackenzie Lund, Sami Sanborn and Parker each had two hits.

In the nightcap Parker led off the seventh inning with a solo homer, tying the score at 5-5. Savacool followed with a single, then scored the game winner on a walk-off double by Taylor Dew.

Parker also came in to pitch in the fifth inning of Game 2 and struck out five to secure the win. Megan Crane started the game on the mound and turned in a strong effort.

The Sailors improved to 11-4 on the season.
