Red Wings 3, Lightning 2 – The Red Wings took away home ice from Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the playoffs thanks to goaltender Petr Mrazek, who made 44 saves in his first NHL postseason game.
Detroit won despite being outshot 46-14.
Luke Glendening was the unsung hero. He scored the gaming winning goal in a shorthanded situation and blocked a crucial shot with under 10 seconds in regulation to seal the victory.
Pavel Datsyuk scored two goals while Darren Helm picked up two assists.
