Detroit sports glance: Tigers’ win streak ends when their comeback falls short; Pistons fall to Cleveland

Pirates 5, Tigers 4 – The Tigers just fell short of a comeback victory on Monday afternoon.

Detroit’s Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera hit back-to-back doubles in the ninth to cut the Tigers’ deficit to three runs. J.D. Martinez then hit a two-run home run to pull the Tigers within one run with no outs.

Nick Castellanos hit into a double-play and Victor Martinez struck out to end the rally and the Tigers’ season opening win streak at six.

Anibal Sanchez struggled in his second start of the season, giving up three home runs, which is just one shy of the number of home runs he allowed all season last year.
