A walk-off win in the opener sparked the Grand Haven softball team to a doubleheader sweep of O-K Red Conference rival Grandville Tuesday, 5-4 and 15-5.
The Bucs, who improved to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the league, rallied from a 4-0 deficit in Game 1. They completed the thrilling comeback with a walk-off hit by Cheyenne Ray that scored Morgan Hill from second base in the seventh inning.
Kylie Masko hit a two-run double in the sixth inning that tied the game at 4-4. She also pitched four innings of scoreless relief, allowing the Bucs to storm back.
In Game 2, the Bucs’ bats caught fire with 15 hits, including three apiece from Kaylee Hartwell and Mikayla Gronback. The big blast came off the bat of senior Pita Messer, who hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
