A slow start didn’t ruin the entire day for the Muskegon Community College baseball team.

LSJ Logo incertThe Jayhawks split a doubleheader Saturday with St. Clair Community College, dropping the opener 12-8 and winning the nightcap 6-3.

MCC fell behind 8-0 in the first game before battling back and making a contest of it. Reid Beffrey had two hits, including a homer run and two RBI. Dylan Brown, Chad McClintock and Aaron Gilbert each chipped in two hits for the Jayhawks.

Damon Proctor got the win on the mount in the nightcap while Kyle Vedrode got the save. Robert Spencer had 4 hits, including two doubles, while Luke Bunting and Aaron Gilbert each chipped in three hits.

The Jayhawks are now 12-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
