The Muskegon Community College softball team had a great weekend, sweeping doubleheaders from Lake Michigan College LSJ Logo incerton Saturday and Glen Oaks Community College on Sunday.

The Jayhawks improved their record to 24-10 overall and 11-3 in conference play.

On Saturday the Jayhawks cruised to 10-2 and 12-1 wins.

MCC took control of the opener by scoring six runs in the first three innings.

Caten Teff, Morgan Giddings, Megan Jean and Katie Hendrickson combined for 11 hits and eight RBIs for the Jayhawks. Teff had three extra base hits, including a three-run homer, while Hendrickson had a solo home run.

Hendrickson was the winning pitcher, giving up six hits and striking out six.

The Jayhawks used an eight-run fourth inning to pull away in the second game. Megan Vander Weele had a three-run homer while Hendrickson added a two-run homer.

Jean got the win on the mound, holding Lake Michigan to three hits.

On Sunday the Jayhawks beat Glen Oaks 7-2 in the first game, and by a runaway 32-1 score in the nightcap.

The Jayhawks secured the victory in the opener by scoring six runs in the fourth inning.

Amy Gillings led the offense with three singles. Nicole DePender got the win on the mound, scattering five hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

The Jayhawks exploded for 23 runs in the first three innings of the second game.

Hendrickson led the hitting barrage with two home runs and seven RBIs. Also hitting homers for MCC were Giddings and Gillings.

Jean got the win on the mound, scattering four hits over five innings.
