Noah Dykstra pitched a complete game gem for the Sailors, allowing six hits and striking out eight. He also contributed with his bat, tallying the Sailors’ lone runs with an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Hunter Broersma added two singles and Chase Baker laced a double for the Sailors, who improved to 20-11 on the season.

In a game where no details were available, Shelby defeated Reed City 3-2 in a Division 3 pre-district game.

Division 2

Spring Lake 2, Fruitport 0 – The Lakers, 19-10 on the season, advance to Saturday’s Division 2 district tournament in Allendale, where they will meet Sparta in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Fruitport’s season came to an end with the tough defeat. Jorge Lozano was the winning pitcher for Spring Lake, tossing a two-hit, complete game shutout with four strikeouts and five walks. He outdueled Fruitport’s Corey Merkins, who also pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits. The Lakers got one run in the third inning with a double by Isaac Bench and an RBI single by Kyle Zietlow. They added another in the sixth with a triple by Mark Williamson and a sacrifice fly by Ben Winsemius.

Tri County 7, Orchard View 1 – The Cardinals’ season came to an end on Wednesday night after a loss to Tri County. Nick Pilieci and Logan Duzan led Orchard View with two hits apiece.

Cedar Springs 5, Grant 2 – The Tigers’ district hopes came to an end after a comeback effort fell short on Wednesday. The Tigers gave up five runs to Cedar Springs in the third inning, but shut the Red Hawks out the rest of the contest. The Tigers scored one run in the sixth and one in the seventh but were unable to force extra innings.

Division 3

Oakridge 3, Ravenna 0 – Oakridge starting pitcher Wyatt Hilton was in control, giving up just five hits over seven innings while striking out eight. Hilton also tallied a triple in the fourth inning and scored a run on a Brady Luttrull sacrifice fly. Logan Layman had an RBI double in the second for the Eagles, and Luttrull drove in the game’s final run, plating Jordan Fairchild on an RBI groundout in the sixth. Oakridge will face Montague in Saturday’s district semifinals at North Muskegon.
