The Muskegon Community College baseball team needed two wins in four games this week to qualify for postseason regionals.

‘MCC swept a doubleheader from Ancilla College on Wednesday , 2-1 and 11-1, to qualify for next week’s National Junior College Athletic Association regional tournament in Battle Creek.

The Jayhawks are now 25-15 overall and 16-8 in conference play. They will finish the regular season Thursday with a twin bill at home against Kellogg Community College at 2 p.m.

In Game 1, pitcher Kyle Vedrode (5-3) tossed a two-hitter while striking out six. Parker Richardson was 2-for-3 with a stolen base for the Jayhawks while Aaron Gilbert was 2-for-2 with a game-winning RBI walk in the bottom of the 6th.

In Game 2, Damon Proctor (7-3) pitched a three-hitter, striking out five in a five-inning game.

Kyle Lawson went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and three RBIs. Jake Wagenmaker was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs while Luke Bunting and Robert Spencer had two hits apiece.
