The Grand Haven softball team wrapped up its regular season Wednesday with a with a doubleheader sweep of O-K RedLSJ Logo incert Conference rival West Ottawa, 5-1 and 11-0.

The Bucs’ sweep secures a second-place league finish behind champion Hudsonville.

In Game 1, Yogi Hang pitched a complete game, striking out six and allowing just one unearned run. Morgan Hill sparked the Bucs’ offense by going 3-for-4 with a double and solo home run in the third inning. Hang also had a two-run triple in the second, scoring Hill and Kylie Masko.

In the nightcap, the Bucs pounded out 14 hits and received a shutout from pitcher Kaylee Hartwell. She struck out seven and allowed only two hits.

Grand Haven produced a five-run fourth inning, thanks to a three-run triple by Jordan Buckingham. Andrea Shumaker added a two-run home run in the seventh for Grand Haven, which improved to 25-6-1 overall.

Montague 18-17, Mason County Central 0-1 – Kenadee Shugars went 4-for-4 from the plate for the Wildcats, hitting a home run, knocking in three runs, and scoring four runs. She also struck out nine of the 10 batters she faced on the mound in Game 1. Jill Bennett pitched the win in Game 2, allowing two hits for Montague. Shugars had three hits and two RBIs while Sydney Stine had three hits, one RBI, and one run scored.

Manistee Catholic 6, Hart 5 – The Pirates couldn’t hold onto an early lead and suffered a tight loss in their regular season finale. Hart led until the sixth, when Manistee Catholic took control thanks to an RBI single. Kari Merten led the Pirates with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Adrianna Sawdy also had an RBI single in the first inning for Hart, helping the Pirates jump out to a 2-0 lead.
