J.D. Martinez and Nick Castellanos each knocked in a run for Detroit.
Detroit starting pitcher Justin Verlander picked up his first win of the season, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings while striking out 10 batters.
The Tigers will open a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles starting on Thursday night.
