Area little league baseball teams faced off this past weekend in the District 12 tournament finals, with a chance to advance and compete for state honors.
In the Majors Division final (ages 11 and 12), Roosevelt Park beat Oakridge 11-7 as Ryan Gillings hit three home runs and posted the win on the mound.
Roosevelt Park moves on to the state tournament Saturday through Thursday in Harper Woods, with a chance to qualify for regionals in Indianapolis.
Oakridge topped Roosevelt Park 6-4 in the Minors Division final (ages 9 and 10) and qualified for the state tourney in St. Claire, which runs Friday through Wednesday.
In the Junior Division (ages 13-14), White Lake topped Morley-Stanwood 13-1 last Monday and moved on to sectionals and beat Georgetown 7-6 on Saturday. Luke Marsh pitched five no-hit innings against Georgetown and struck out six. White Lake heads all the way up to Escanaba for the state tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday.
