Western Michigan Christian varsity volleyball players will be answering to a husband/wife combo this fall.
The school has announced that Trent Smillie will be the Warriors’ new coach this fall, replacing veteran Coach Ed Bailey, who recently resigned due to family commitments.
Both Smillies are seasoned volleyball veterans who have coached around the Muskegon area at various levels, including summer camps at WMC.
“Meredith and I are very blessed to be the new volleyball coaches at Western Michigan Christian High School,” Trent Smillie was quoted as saying in a WMC press release. “Coach Bailey has created a championship program and it is our intention to carry that torch in that same direction in future seasons.”
“WMC is incredibly excited to announce the hiring of Trent and his wife Meredith to coach and assist the varsity volleball team,” said WMC athletic director Josh Glerum. “They both have a lenthy history of coaching and playing volleyball around the Greater Muskegon area.”
