The Mason County Central football team started the season off with a hard fought 7-0 non-league win over Benzie County Central on Thursday.
The Spartans scored early in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass to Ryan Mount from Spencer Knizacky. Dylan Hearns added the extra point to put the Spartans up 7-0.
Both teams traded possessions back in the fourth quarter. Benzie Central got the ball with 30 seconds left, but the Spartan defense stood strong and preserved the victory.
