Royals 4, Tigers 0 – The Kansas City Royals scored three runs in the first inning, and shut down the Tiger bats on Monday night.

J.D. Martinez’ double was the only extra base hit for the Tigers.

Detroit starting pitcher Matt Boyd took the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The Tigers will look to even the series against the Royals on Tuesday night.
