Astros 5, Tigers 1 – The Houston Astros defeated the Tigers on Friday night in the weekend series opener.
Victor Martinez knocked in the only run for Detroit, while Jose Iglesias hit a double.
Detroit starting pitcher Alfredo Simon took the loss, he struggled with his command walking four batters and allowing four runs on six hits in five innings.
The Tigers will look to even the series with a victory against the Astros on Saturday night.
