Detroit sports glance: Tigers suffer third straight loss to Rangers, postseason hopes quickly slipping away

Rangers 4, Tigers 2 – The Tiger bats failed to produce runs once again, as Detroit lost its third straight game to the Texas Rangers after Sunday afternoon’s defeat.

LSJ Logo incertThe Tigers are now five games out of a playoff spot with 39 games left to play.

Jose Iglesias knocked in one run for Detroit, while James McCann had the Tigers only extra base hit.

Detroit starting pitcher Matt Boyd took the loss, allowing Eye on the Dthree runs on five hits in six innings.

The Tigers will head to Cincinnati on Monday night to make up a game with the Reds that was rained out in June.

Record: 59-64

Tied for 3rd Place in AL Central (16 games behind Kansas City)

5 games behind Texas for last playoff spot.
