Detroit sports glance: Victor Martinez’ home run in seventh inning leads Tigers over Red Sox, 7-6

Tigers 7, Red Sox 6 – Victor Martinez’ two-run home run in the seventh inning propelled the Tigers over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.

LSJ Logo incertRajai Davis also hit a two-run home run for Detroit, while J.D. Martinez and James McCann each hit RBI doubles.

Detroit starting pitcher Alfredo Simon picked up a no decision, allowing six runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Blaine Hardy pitched the victory for the Tigers, allowing Eye on the Dtwo hits in 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Bruce Rondon picked up his first save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

The Tigers will look to win the three-game series over the Red Sox with a win on Sunday afternoon.
