The Spring Lake soccer team claimed the championship with a pair of wins Friday in the Hudsonville Unity Christian Crusader Cup tournament.
Alec Palmer and Ryan Zietlow each made their shots in an overtime shootout to give the Lakers a 2-0 win over West Ottawa in the opener. Spring Lake goalkeeper Bruce Boes stopped all four shootout attempts by the Panthers.
Ben Mast scored the only goal in the finals, giving Spring Lake a 1-0 win over Unity Christian. Boes recorded another shutout, with outstanding defensive help from Damontay Tyson, Keaton Kval and Ben Bouwhuis.
