Head coach Jeff Hellmann said unforced errors were the main culprit for the Reeths-Puffer volleyball team’s struggles Tuesday at the East Kentwood Invitational.

“We have a lot to work on, but the biggest thing is taking care of the ball,” Hellmann said. “Out of six sets, a total of 150 points, we had 81 unforced errors. Over half of the other teams’ points were freebies. You cannot do that and expect to win.”

The Rockets finished 0-3 during the day, with losses to Caledonia (25-12, 25-14), Gull Lake (25-15, 25-20), and Otsego (25-12, 25-18).

“We need to start playing with some fire and act like we want to be there,” Hellmann added. “A couple bright spots are that we are serving tough at 87 percent, and our passing was better then it was Saturday.”
