Liam Parker’s late goal gives the Fruitport soccer team an exciting win over state-ranked Covenant Christian

The Fruitport soccer team capped off a perfect three-win week with an exciting 3-2 victory Saturday over Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.

Fruitport’s game-winning goal came with about a minute left in regulation with a goal by Liam Parker.

Calvin Christian took a 1-0 lead early in the contest, then Fruitport’s Noah Hendricks scored with an assist from Zach Shane about a minute later to knot the score.

Calvin Christian went back on top with a breakaway goal late in the first half and led 2-1 at halftime. But Fruitport bounced back again with a goal from Lucas Leslie on a rebound to make the score 2-2.

Parker’s late goal settled the issue.

Fruitport outshot Calvin Christian 14-6. Goalkeeper Connor Werschem got the win for the Trojans.
