The Mason County Central football team opened West Michigan Conference play with a 22-7 win over Shelby on Thursday night.
The Spartans led 15-7 after one quarter and added a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Shelby led in total offense 210-198 and had a 12-10 advantage in first downs.
Juan Cavazos led the Shelby defense with seven tackles and Rudy Calicsio had two interceptions.
Gavin Porter had 115 yards on 20 carries for Shelby while Calicsio added 52 yards on 14 carries.
Spencer Knizacky led MCC with 41 yards rushing on 12 attempts.
