The Muskegon Community College men’s soccer team started off a challenging weekend with a 2-1 upset of Cincinnati State Saturday at Mona Shores High School.LSJ Logo incert

Cincinnati State is ranked sixth in the nation among National Junior College Athletic Association Division 2 teams.

The visitors scored just 15 seconds into the game, but MCC claimed the victory with goals by Jesus Corona (with an assist from Miguel Flores) and Flores (with an assist from Edgar Alvarez.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Fales earned his third victory for the Jayhawks, stopping 9 of 10 shots.

MCC, now 7-2,  will host Schoolcraft Community College, another highly ranked team. Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mona Shores High School.
