The Muskegon Lumberjacks used offense and defense in their 5-0 shutout of Team USA’s Under 17 squad in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
In its final preseason game of the season, Muskegon went to work late in the first period with a Carson Vance goal at the 19:45 minute mark. Dominick Sacco posted the assist on the play.
The Lumberjack offense found its spark in the second period with a goal fromĀ Danny Digrandea, a power-play tally by Collin Adams and a goal from Pittsburgh native Jack Coleman.
In the physical third period that totaled 27 penalty minutes, Coleman scored his second goal of the game off a redirected shot.
Lumberjack goalie Joey Daccord posted the shutout.
Muskegon starts regular season play on Saturday Sept. 26 in Waterloo, Iowa.
