After a tough stretch of non-conference battles to open its season, Spring Lake’s varsity volleyball team found some relief at the start of league action.

The Lakers easily took care of rival Fremont on Tuesday, sweeping the Packers in three games, 25-24, 25-17, 25-16. Spring Lake improves to 5-7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Lakes Eight Conference.LSJ Logo incert

Olivia Grimmer had 12 kills and 11 digs for the Lakers, while Lauren Helman and Isabel Donnelly each played big at the net with five kills and three blocks apiece.

Setter Abby Moe totaled 13 assists, while Alli Pennington led the Lakers with 14 digs.
