Gustav Nyquist, Teemu Pulkkinen and Riley Sheahan each scored one goal for Detroit.
The Red Wings are 3-1-0 on the season, good for second place in the Atlantic Division.
Detroit’s goaltender Jimmy Howard stopped 31-of-36 shots.
The Red Wings will host the Montreal Canadiens in their next game on Saturday night.
