The Fruitport Trojans clinched a share of the Lakes Eight Conference soccer championship with a 2-1 victory over Muskegon Catholic Central on Tuesday.LSJ Logo incert

The Trojans finished tied for the conference championship with Spring Lake after the Lakers were able to beat Ludington 4-1 in double overtime.

Muskegon Catholic Central got the scoring started against Fruitport when Neil Kuharevicz scored the lone Crusaders’ goal.

However, just 21 seconds later, Fruitport tied the game when Noah Hendricks scored off a cross from Zach Shane.

The goal gave Hendricks a school record of 14 straight games with at least one goal.

After being tied 1-1 at halftime, Shane scored the winning goal for the Trojans in the second half when he was assisted by Jonah Krueger.

In total, the Trojans were able to outshoot Muskegon Catholic Central 17-5.
