The Buccaneers defeated Hudsonville 3-2 in a key match Tuesday on their home court. The set scores were 25-21, 29-31, 25-13, 20-25 and 15-13.

They are now 6-0 in league play and have a two-game lead over Hudsonville and Rockford with four league matches remaining.

“We played well and took care of the ball,  but we still need to clean up some mistakes,” said Grand Haven Coach Aaron Smaka, whose team is now 37-6 overall on the season. “Our goal is to play our best ball in November and the team has the right focus.”

Morgan Ross led the Buccaneers with 17 kills and four aces while Sophia Newhouse had 38 digs and Katie Cole chipped in 49 assists.
