Mona Shores varsity volleyball squad took advantage of Reeths-Puffer’s struggles with passing in the Sailors’ three-set sweep of the Rockets, 25-21, 25-8, 25-15.LSJ Logo incert

Quick starts helped fuel the Sailors’ sweep, as they built commanding leads of 10-2, 5-0 and 10-4 in the three sets.

Mona Shores improves to 23-14 overall and 5-1 in the O-K Black Conference. The Sailors were led by Grace Hellman with 13 kills and 11 digs. Madison Dunn added eight kills and five blocks, while Haley Gartland tallied 13 digs and two aces.

Leading the way for the Rockets was Cam Vanderleest, who had nine kills and seven digs. Emma Lynn tallied 18 digs, three kills and two aces, while Kate Uganski contributed 16 assists and eight digs.

Reeths-Puffer and Mona Shores will compete in the GMAA city tournament on Saturday.
