The Mona Shores volleyball team won a share of the O-K Black Conference championship with a three set victory over Grand Rapids Union (25-9, 25-16, 25-11) on Thursday night while celebrating senior night.LSJ Logo incert

The Sailors finish the regular season with a 9-1 conference record and tied for their fifth straight conference title with Zeeland East.

Coach Dan Potts said that he is very proud of his team and the season they produced.

“I’m very proud of the Sailors,” he said. “The players worked hard to achieve their goal of an O-K Black championship and they are feeling really happy about that accomplishment.”

The Sailors were able to control the match from the beginning with great effort from their senior players.

Senior Brianna Rake finished with four kills, three aces, while senior Anna Veenstra added two kills, three aces, and six digs for the Sailors.

Senior Kennedy Potts added seven digs and two kills for the Sailors while junior Madison Dunn added nine kills and three blocks.

Junior Katie Hermanson contributed 21 assists for Mona Shores.

Mona Shores finished the regular season with a record of 28-15.
