Spring Lake wins its own volleyball invitational; Reeths-Puffer goes 1-3

LSJ Logo incertThe Spring Lake volleyball team hosted and won its own invitational tournament on Saturday, beating Zeeland West 2-0 in the finals.

The Lakers defeated Reeths-Puffer and Muskegon Catholic Central 2-0, and lost to Zeeland West 2-1 in round robin play before playing the Dux in a rematch for the title.

Spring Lake was led by Olivia Grimmer with 31 kills, Lauren Helman with 15 blocks, Alli Pennington with 43 digs and Abby Moe with 73 assists.

The Lakers are now 12-12-1 on the season and 3-1 in Lakes 8 Conference play.

Besides its loss to Spring Lake, Reeths-Puffer beat Muskegon Catholic 2-1, lost to Zeeland West 2-0, and lost a rematch with MCC 2-0.

Cam Vanderleest paced the Rockets on the day with 25 kills and seven aces. Brooke Larabee added 10 kills and Emma Lynn had eight kills, seven aces and 23 digs.
