Whitehall soccer team beats Shelby 1-0 in OT, advances to play Fremont in district title game

The Whitehall boys soccer team came away with a thrilling 1-0 overtime win over Shelby Wednesday in a Division 3 district semifinal game.LSJ Logo incert

After a defensive battle in regulation, Daniel Dubois found the back of the net off an assist from Lachlan Moore.

Wyatt Sherman had four saves in goal for the Vikings, who advance to the district final. The Vikings improved to 14-3-1 while the Tigers finished the season at 8-5-5.

Whitehall will play Fremont in the district final at 4:30 p.m. at Lakeview High School. Fremont defeated Lakeview 3-2 in overtime in the other semifinal.

In other Division 3 action, Orchard View was eliminated by Hudsonville Unity Christian 7-0 and Ludington defeated Manistee 5-0.  Ludington will play Traverse City Christian Saturday on its home field at 5 p.m.
