The Muskegon Community College womens basketball team opened its season with a 69-59 loss to Owens Community College on the road on Wednesday night.
The Jayhawks were outrebounded 54-46 in the game and shot a low 27 percent from the field.
“I am very pleased with the defensive effort of our team,” said MCC Coach Amanda Parker. “However, a loss is still a loss and we have a lot to continue to work on.”
Kamaryia Williams led MCC with 25 points while Morgan Giddings had four assists.
