Girls basketball roundup: Shelby and Muskegon Catholic win non-league games, Hesperia loses

The Shelby girls basketball team defeated Fremont 45-27 in a non-league game on Monday night.

Jenny Beckman led the Tigers, who are now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in league, with 13 points, while Brooke James added nine points and 13 rebounds.

The Packers were led in a losing effort be Hali Garcia with 16 points.

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 61, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 34Talia Tyler led the Crusaders with 16 points while Emily Rauch added 12 and Zoie Price scored 11. The Tigers were led by Frendreka Watkins-Oliver with 22 points.

MASON COUNTY EASTERN 60, HESPERIA 11Cheyenne Witte led Hesperia with five points, three rebounds and two steals, while Mandy Purdy grabbed eight rebounds.
