Lakes 8 boys hoops: OV gets first league win since 2012; Spring Lake beats Fruitport; Ludington downs MCC

Matias Keyes scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Orchard View downed Fremont 57-50 in Lakes 8 basketball on Friday.

Dev’ron Williams added 13 points for the Cardinals, who improved to 1-1 on the season.

Ryan Geeting and Connor Gronso scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Fremont, which was hurt by 17 turnovers.

SPRING LAKE 57, FRUITPORT 44 – Spring Lake used a 32-14 second half advantage to beat Fruitport on Friday night. Keegan George led the Lakers (2-0, 1-0) with 26 points while Nick Kramer and Jarod Wierengo each led the Trojans (1-1, 0-1) with 10 points.

LUDINGTON 54, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 42 – The Orioles used a 31-18 second-half advantage to open up Lakes 8 Conference play with a road win. Ludington was led by Sam LaDuke with 13 points while the Crusaders were led by Christian Martinez who had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.
