MCC improved to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Jayhawks stormed out to a 10-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. They extended that lead to 12 in the first half, but foul trouble allowed Jackson to get back into it.

The Jets took the lead late in the half before the Jayhawks made a run to lead 46-40 at halftime. Eddie Tornes had 12 points in the first half while Will Roberson, Marcus Tumblin and Terrance Cosby had 11 apiece.

MCC finally pulled ahead for good with eight minutes to play in the second half. The lead stretched to 15, but Jackson would not give in.

A few three-pointers, coupled with missed free throws by the Jayhawks, cut the lead to six. But MCC found its stroke at the foul line in the final two minutes to close out the victory.

Tumblin led MCC with a double-double of 33 points and 13 rebounds. Tornes also racked up a double-double, scoring 24 and grabbing 12 boards. Roberson ended with 22 points and a team high six assists.

“I Thought Will, Marcus, and Eddie did a great job of leading us the whole game and not just statistically but with great composure and leadership,” said MCC Coach Dave Schlump.

The Jayhawks will host top-ranked Lansing Community College this Monday at 7:30 p.m.
