The Fruitport girls basketball team remained very much in the race for a Lakes 8 Conference title with a 49-35 victory over Ludington on Friday.LSJ Logo incert

Fruitport improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Ludington fell to 6-5 and 3-1.

Iyana Brown scored 24 points for the Trojans while adding eight steals and six assists. Katie Veihl chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds.

Claire Flewelling led Ludington with nine points.

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 41, FREMONT 30 – Muskegon Catholic Central (5-5, 2-3) used a second-half run to overcome a four-point deficit and beat Fremont (3-7,1-4). Bri Harris led the way for MCC with 17 points.

SPRING LAKE 58, ORCHARD VIEW 17 – The Lakers displayed a dominating first half that left them with a commanding 34-2 halftime lead. Reiko Johnson led the Lakers (9-2, 7-2) with 18 points while Mari Brown led the Cardinals (0-8, 0-4) with 11 points.
