Senators 3, Red Wings 2 (SO) – The Ottawa Senators scored a late third period goal force overtime and pick up a shootout win over the Red Wings on Saturday night.

LSJ Logo incertOttawa’s Dion Phaneuf tied the game at 2-2 with 3:51 left in regulation. The Senators’ Kyle Turris scored the lone shootout goal in the contest.

The Red Wings’ goals were scored by Andreas Athanasiou and Brad Richards.

The Red Wings are now 29-20-10 on the season, good for 68 points and a second place tie in the Atlantic Division. They are three points ahead of New Jersey for the final playoff spot.

Detroit will close its road trip on Sunday night against the New York Rangers.
