Montague’s Abraham Erickson nailed a 3-point basket as time expired to propel the Wildcats to a 58-55 over North Muskegon in a West Michigan Conference game on Friday night.lsj-fb-logo

The Norse tied the game at 55-55 with 9 seconds to play on a made basket from Riley Fairfield. Montague pushed the ball down court in time for the game-winning 3-point shot from the left side of the court by Erickson.

“I was really proud of how our team hung in there tonight, said Montague Coach David Osborne. “I thought we held our composure down the stretch and got an amazing shot at the buzzer to get the win.  I am proud of the team winning this game.”

The Wildcats (9-10, 4-10) were led by Erickson with 17 points, while Josh Weesies added 12 points and Jacob Buchberger chipped in with 11.

Fairfield paced the Norse (13-6, 9-5) with 20 points, while Erick Bleakley added 14 points and Vernonell Smith grabbed seven rebounds.
