The Kent City wrestling team defeated Ravenna 42-34 in the finals of the Division 4 district tournament in its own gym on Wednesday.
The Eagles also defeated Muskegon Catholic 70-9 in a semifinal match. They now advance to team regionals next Wednesday at Hesperia High School.
Kent City wrestlers with wins on the night were Josh Lee (103), Gerardo Cruz (112), Enrique Cruz (119), Carlos Diaz (125), Evan Jones (130), Ryan Bockheim (135), Blake Armstrong (140), Denny Carr (145), Whyatt Ellicott (152), Alec Niece (160), Alex Smith (171) and Nick Widener (189).
Ravenna defeated Holton 70-6 in the other semifinal.
Picking up wins for the Bulldogs were Chad English (112), Dylan Kiester (119), Garry Johnson III (125), Devon Forner (130), Nolan Liszewski (135), Derek Forner (140), Graysen Kloostra (145) Dane Denhof (160), Jordan Wenzinger (171), Pedro Anderson (189), Alex Straub (215) and Elex Sokolowski (285).
Kenny Waltz (160) picked up the lone win for Holton, while Adam Benoit (215) and Brock Johnson (285) had victories for Muskegon Catholic against Kent City.
