Spring Lake and Reeths-Puffer met up in a high-profile, non-conference game on Tuesday night. Both teams are having great seasons, and neither disappointed in a back-and-forth affair.Midnight sun featured image lsj-fb-logo

Spring Lake used a 16-7 advantage in the third to take control of the game and get the 59-51 win.

Both teams came out hot in the first quarter as Spring Lake took a 23-20 lead. The Lakers got nine points in the quarter from Reiko Johnson.

Reeths-Puffer locked down defensively in the second, holding Spring Lake to seven points, and grabbed a 32-30 lead at the break.

In the third, it was the Lakers’ defense that stepped up. Spring Lake came out in a press and got some quick buckets to regain the lead for good. Spring Lake outscored Reeths-Puffer 16-7 in the third and 13-12 in the fourth.

Johnson led the Lakers with 20 points and seven assists while Remi French had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Madelyn Nelson and Nora Adkins each had 10 for Spring Lake. It was a balanced attack for the Rockets, as Delaney Bolles, Brooke Larabee and Elysia Mattos scored 14 points a piece.

The Lakers and Rockets now each sit at 13-3 on the season.
