The Whitehall wrestling team took home the Division 3 regional championship at Tri County High School on Wednesday, defeating Grant 43-27 in the semifinals, then beating Grand Rapids Catholic Central 48-23 in the finals.LSJ Logo incert

The Vikings now advance to the Feb. 26 state quarterfinals at Central Michigan University. The semifinals and finals are the following day.

Winning matches for the Vikings were Hunter Bower (103), Trenton Blanchard (112), Corey Robinson (119), Dominick Haynes (130), Reiley Brown (135), Blake Bayne (140), Jwan Britton (145), Jojo Dowdell (152), Joe Haynes (160), Jake Parmley (171), Luke Morningstar (189) and Jordin Patterson (285).

“I’m real proud of the boys,” said Whitehall Coach Cliff Sandee. “Patterson and Parmley were the heroes tonight, Jordin turned around a loss from earlier in the year. It was a team win by a group of boys that love each other.”

Grant wrestlers picking up wins over Whitehall were Jagarr Jenerou (125), Brandon Sanders (130), Bryce Bosker (140), Rouven Trautwein (171), Rylee Schultz (189) and Rashaad Powell (285).
