The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team had its season come to an end on Saturday with a 90-87 loss to Lansing Community College in a regional final contest at Delta LSJ Logo incertCollege in Saginaw.

The Jayhawks had a chance to tie the game as time expired when Eddie Tornes crossed half court and launched a 3-point attempt. But the shot hit the front of the rim and bounced away, sealing MCC’s fate.

Lansing Community College took home its second straight regional title. Muskegon Community College finished the season with a 24-7 record.

“It’s hard to put it in words, it was a very somber locker room,” said Jayhawk head coach Dave Schlump. “It was a rough moment but our kids are resilient and I think as they wake up tomorrow morning, they’ll feel a sense of accomplishment. It was a great run for these guys over the last two years.”

Tornes led the Jayhawks with 30 points in the game.
