The Mona Shores boys basketball season came to an end with a 73-64 overtime loss to Grand Rapids Union in the opening round of Class A district play on Monday.
Both teams struggled to get much going in the third quarter. The Sailors were outscored 11-8 and faced a 43-37 deficit heading into the fourth.
The Sailors outscored GR Union 19-13 during the fourth quarter to tie the game up at 56-56 and force overtime.
Union outscored the Sailors 17-8 in the extra period.
Mona Shores was led by Tyler Trovinger with 17 points and seven rebounds while Hunter Broersma added 12 points. Kobe Burse chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds for the Sailors.
